As someone who has travelled to a number of different countries I am always amazed by Britain’s inaptitude when dealing with snow fall... I am aware of the hard work and commitment shown by public servants and the emergency services, but in comparison to the USA and other countries in the EU Britain seems to deal badly with what should be a mild inconvenience. The "standstill" outside my house for large periods of yesterday evening made me wonder, what is the cost of snow? and how it can be offset?

The cost of snow is same as that of gold. It's priceless...
I would pay to see peoples reaction to gold falling from the sky... might do a bit more damage than snow lol
However, if the UK invested in all the snow ploughs and other snow equipment that other countries that get snow more often have, that would be a catastrophic waste of resource which could be diverted to mroe needy areas such as education or the NHS. The brief sprinkling of "snow" we get most years never seems to stop people, but this is the worst for 18 years, but why buy very expensive equipment for something that happens so rarely? Agreed though that people should man up a a bit and make more of an effort to get to work and school. I know some people that made it into work on Monday and others who live in the same areas that did not. When you think about how much British industry is estimated to have lost from the amount of people taking snow days, its quite astonishing!
